Your transmission plays a critical role in the performance and safety of your vehicle, so when you’re experiencing issues, it’s natural to have some questions. What are common signs of a transmission problem?

Top warning signs that something is wrong with your transmission include slipping gears, delayed shifting, unusual noises, fluid leaks, or dashboard warning lights. Bring your vehicle in as soon as you notice problems like these, as addressing them early can save you from more serious damage.

Do you work on both automatic and manual transmissions?

Yes, we offer services for standard (manual) transmissions and automatic transmissions. Our team can work on a wide range of vehicle makes and models – contact us if you have questions about a specific type of vehicle.

Is a transmission rebuild better than a replacement?

A rebuild involves dismantling the transmission, cleaning and inspecting the components, and replacing whatever is worn or damaged before reassembling it. In many cases, a rebuild is more cost-effective as long as the transmission housing is still in good condition. We will assess your transmission and make a recommendation based on what we find and what will be the most effective solution for you in the long term.

Do you service other parts of a vehicle?

Yes, in addition to transmissions, we also provide differential services, brake replacements, and suspension repairs.

Will your team explain the problem and what repairs are needed before getting started?

Absolutely. We take the time to precisely diagnose the root problem, provide you with a detailed explanation and recommendation for a solution, and answer any questions you may have. We also keep you informed throughout the repair process, so you’re never left wondering what’s going on with your vehicle.

Extremely DisappointedI strongly recommend **avoiding this transmission shop** unless you want to spend your time and money going in circles. I paid this shop **$4,801 for what I was told would be a heavy-duty built 4L80E transmission**, and the transmission has repeatedly failed and developed new problems almost immediately after being repaired. My truck has now been back to this shop **four times**, and it is unfortunately headed back for a **fifth time**. The original issue involved losing reverse and 2nd gear. The first time, the transmission cooler lines were apparently not installed or secured properly. One of the lines blew off on the highway, causing transmission fluid to spray out and ultimately resulting in the transmission overheating and failing. The second time, I lost reverse completely and the truck would not back up.The third and fourth visits involved continued problems with losing reverse and 2nd gear, along with overheating and what appeared to be internal fluid leakage. Despite multiple repairs, the transmission continues to have serious problems.I picked the truck up on **Thursday, August 13th**, after being told by the shop that it was ready and good to go back to work. It didn't take long for another problem to show up. The torque converter is not locking up properly, the transmission is not going into overdrive correctly, and the transmission is overheating. These problems are making the transmission operate improperly and raise serious concerns about driving it any significant distance. What makes this situation even more frustrating is that I was advised to **drive the truck from Athens to Mabank to their shop**, despite the transmission overheating and not operating properly. I don't believe a customer should be expected to risk further damage to a vehicle because a shop doesn't want to arrange transportation.During the first four visits, the shop was willing to send a tow truck and cover the towing expense to retrieve the vehicle. Now, on the fifth failure, I am being told they are unwilling to do the same, even though the truck is still experiencing major transmission problems after their work.I was also told that this was a **heavy-duty built transmission**. However, I was later told by the builder that the transmission was assembled using **stock internal parts**. If I paid $4,801 for a heavy-duty build, I expect the transmission to actually be built to the specifications I paid for.At this point, my truck has been in their shop **four times in roughly a month**, has traveled less than 1,000 total miles during this process, and continues to experience major transmission failures.I understand that mechanical problems can happen. What I find unacceptable is having the same vehicle repeatedly returned for major problems, being told it is fixed and ready for work, only to have another failure occur, and then being expected to bring the vehicle back myself while it is overheating and not shifting correctly. After spending **$4,801**, I expected a properly built and reliable transmission—not repeated breakdowns, multiple trips back to the shop, and arguments over getting the vehicle safely fixed by there warranty.**Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop. Think very carefully before spending your hard-earned money here.**
Do not use this shop. We paid them to fix the transmission on my late husband's truck for my son, and after FOUR return trips, it is still not fixed. The transmission is currently overheating and the torque converter is not locking in. It now requires yet another tow.Despite this being their fifth failure, the shop expects us to risk driving a damaged truck all the way from Athens to Gun Barrel City just so they can "take a look." To make matters worse, the woman in the office is consistently combative and rude. This place is a complete waste of time and money. Save yourself the extreme stress and go to Barton's instead. Get it done right the first time.
Great family business. They are so helpful and understanding
They did total rebuild 8 years ago on my van.An ithe transmission still good. Now they rebuilt my differential an seal on my truck. I will always use them. They do good work an are good Christian people.
I wanted to wait a little while before I put in my rating about the rebuild of my transmission and my F150 truck. I have to say after driving it a few months it doesn’t even feel like the same truck anymore. Honestly, it drives better than it did when it was brand new. The power level has increased exponentially. I have had no issues with it and would highly recommend the shop I had good service also.
A little more pricey than I expected, but I am very satisfied with the work they did for me. Brought in my 94.5 Powerstroke after I smoked the clutch and service the front and rear diffs. They also found a part that was due to malfunction pretty soon that could have been bad. It drove like a whole new truck afterwards.
They have done repairs on two of my vehicles always did a great job and we’re Completed earlier than expected great job guys
I had to get the CVT transmission in my Mitsubishi Mirage replaced. The price was clear and fair and they had me in and out in no time. I’m very happy with the work done, y’all did an amazing job!
